ConvertUnlimited uses PDF.js, a powerful rendering library developed by Mozilla, to decode PDF documents directly in your browser. Our tool iterates through every page of your PDF, draws it onto an HTML5 Canvas at your selected resolution (scale), and then exports that canvas as a high-quality image file.

Because the rendering happens entirely on your own device's CPU and RAM, selected document contents are processed locally in your browser. This local-first approach provides local browser-based processing and allows for fast extraction of pages even from large PDF files.

Resolution and Render Scale Explained

PDF documents are vector-based, meaning they can be rendered at any size. Our tool offers three scales:

• Standard (1x): Renders at the document's original intended size. Ideal for mobile-friendly thumbnails.
• High (2x): Double the resolution. This is our recommended setting for crisp, readable text and clear photos.
• Extra High (3x): Triple resolution. Best for large prints or detailed diagrams where every pixel matters.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I convert encrypted PDFs?

Yes, provided you have the password. Your browser will prompt you to enter the password to unlock the document before the rendering begins. The password is not intentionally uploaded by this tool.

Will my images lose quality?

By choosing the "High" or "Extra High" render scales, you ensure that the extracted images maintain the sharp quality of the original PDF. Output formats like WebP and JPG at 90% quality preserve excellent detail.

Browser Support

This tool works in all modern browsers supporting the HTML5 Canvas API and WebAssembly, including Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge.

Privacy

Privacy build: This build removes ads, analytics, remote fonts, runtime CDN scripts, and file-operation telemetry. Selected files are processed in the browser using local JavaScript and browser APIs.

Your Documents: Selected file contents are processed locally in your browser. ConvertUnlimited does not provide a server-side upload endpoint for this processing flow.
